During this workshop, participants will create a slow stitch journal that you will make out of an old book with fabric pages. You will be shown how to construct your book, insert the fabric base pages and how to decorate your spine. Participants will then be taught the basics of slow stitching and will start working on pages for your book. You will be taught how to attach the pages into your book to start your slow stitch journal. This will be the beginning of your journey into creating your own slow stitched journal.
Participants will be provided with all supplies needed for the day including a generous kit which has enough supplies for your first 2-3 pages. Packs will include a combination of mostly vintage fabrics, trims, laces, buttons and threads, etc. Please be aware that most of the supplies will be vintage/old. This is the style that this project will be based on.
Participants do not need to bring any extra supplies, however if you have some old scraps of fabric or trims that you love and would like to use, please feel free to bring a small amount along to incorporate into your project. You only need small pieces for this project.
Slow stitching allows you to enjoy the process of hand sewing a variety of textiles together to make your own unique pieces. We do not follow set patterns, but are rather guided by our supplies and what we like. Each slow stitched journal will be different depending on what you make.
No sewing experience is necessary to take part in this workshop.
