During this workshop, participants will create a slow stitch wreath that you will make out of foam wreath wrapped in linen. You will be shown how to work on your composition using old laces, felt, pieces of doily and slow stitched fabrics. Participants will be taught the basics of slow stitching, applique and embroidery to complete your project.
Participants will be provided with all supplies needed for the day including a generous kit which has enough supplies for you to complete your wreath. Packs will include a combination of mostly vintage fabrics, laces, felt, wool and threads, etc. Please be aware that most of the supplies will be vintage/old so will look aged. This is the style that this project will be based on.
Participants do not need to bring any extra supplies, however if you have some old scraps of fabric or trims that you love and would like to use, please feel free to bring a small amount along to incorporate into your project. You only need small pieces for this project.
Slow stitching allows you to enjoy the process of hand sewing a variety of textiles together to make your own unique pieces. We do not follow set patterns, but are rather guided by our supplies and what we like. Each slow stitched project will be different depending on what you make.
No sewing experience is necessary to take part in this workshop.
