LAMPSHADE MAKING INTRO WORKSHOP

At Greendoor Studios, SHAC, Robertson

What

  • In this workshop students make a lampshade from scratch, using industry-standard materials and using professional techniques

  • This workshop is suitable for beginners - no experience necessary (min. age 15 years)

Included

  • All materials (except fabric*) for making a medium sized drum lampshade - 30cm diameter x 25cm high

  • Refreshments will be provided

What to bring

  • Your own fabric*

  • If you own a pair of good fabric scissors please bring them (don’t worry if you don’t)

  • An old credit card, or store card

 

*Fabric requirements

  • An info sheet will be emailed following booking including the fabric requirements in detail

  • Suitable fabrics are lightweight dress/quilting/furnishing weight

  • Unsuitable fabrics are upholstery-weight, fray-able, or super lightweight (sheers/silks)

Teacher

Kate Malfroy is an experienced shade-maker with a passion for beautiful fabrics and rescuing old lampshades and furniture from landfill.  She has run The Upholstery Workroom in her home studio in Jamberoo for many years, and loves nothing more than sharing her skills with keen learners.
