Contemplation Cloth - Two-day workshop – Carol Cooke
We start by marking the fabric and recording your experiments.
We then look to add embroidery stitches to embellish the work.
The cloth becomes a record of your day in the studio and a reference point for more opportunities.
The second day will be to begin creating a contemplation cloth that can be displayed as one page. As well you will be shown how to create a beautiful stitch cloth book. Each student will go home with something unique and beautiful and with more ideas on how to do more stitching and mark making at home.
The aim is not to make something to display. That comes when you take the lessons home and rethink new ways to break free from a commercial pattern. This is not an embroidery class, per se, as I imagine most of the participants can do more than a few stitches. This is about bringing your skills and taking it to a different place of creativity.

I will also provide a range of marking tools for the sessions, and some templates for you to try out.
BONUS: You will also learn how to turn white thread into variegated embroidery thread and colour your cloth. The idea of being able to make your own Fluorescent coloured threads and still have a selection of “brights’ thread to use unique to this course.
