Colour Mixing with Yani Lenehan - 26th May 11am til 5pm

Yani Lenehan is an artist living in Bathurst, in regional Australia, whose colourful artworks help create a vibrant and joyful space.

She has been a finalist in many art exhibitions and prizes, including Lethbridge 20000 SSA 2022 and The Corner Store Gallery’s ‘Mini Series Art Prize’ and ‘Inside This Box”.

Her works have been collected all over Australia, as well as NZ, US, UK, Singapore and Malaysia.

This Colour Mixing workshop is for beginner and intermediate creatives who use liquid mediums (eg. Oils, acrylics, watercolours, gouache, etc).

In this workshop you will learn about the concepts necessary to understand how colour works, so that you can you can confidently mix colours that are vibrant and fresh.

• You’re going to learn every step required for mixing bright, fresh and vibrant colours

• You’ll learn why knowing the colour wheel back to front is essential in getting your colours right

• How to mix warm and cool colours to avoid getting “mud”...or purposely create it

• You’ll learn how to mix your own black and you’ll learn how to create colour charts that are unique to you

• Plus, you’re going to learn some concepts about paints that will help you make informed choices when you buy new materials

Most importantly, you’ll walk away with knowledge that will help you feel confident and comfortable in your art practice, so you can create art that you feel proud to show.

• All Materials Are Supplied

We will work using oil paints, and all necessary materials are supplied.

However, you’re welcomed to bring your own paints if you’d like to practice mixing your own colours. Likewise, if you’d prefer to use watercolours, acrylic or gouache, you’re welcomed to bring the materials you usually use to create your artworks * see note below

• Please bring an apron and wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on

• You may want to bring a notepad and pen to take notes

* NOTE If you’d prefer to bring your acrylics, watercolours or gouache, you will need:

o A selection of brushes

o Paints

o Your preferred mixing palette

o For watercolours: bring watercolour paper
