Join Yoko Kawada for this introductory workshop on Kintsugi, the mindful art of golden ceramic mending.
This century-old Japanese craftwork takes broken ceramic objects and pieces them back together using lacquer and gold dust. Based on the philosophy of Wabi Sabi, finding beauty in imperfection.
The process transforms much loved, worn items into a beautifully crafted, new piece of art. It is a chance to live a more sustainable way and to rescue objects that would otherwise be discarded.
In this relaxed workshop, you will learn the introductory technique of “Art Kintsugi” mending following 7 essential steps, using modern accessible materials and bring home a piece of your own Kintsugi art.
Materials provided:
All tools and materials, a piece of ceramic to repair (per person)
